Yesterday, I've read somewhere about a foundation has set up a charity funds for the victims of Buk1t Ant@rabangsa. It was advertised in one of the local newspaper. Yes, it was a good move from those concern party. I don't question the good intention of them.
What I do concern here is, I have not heard of any kind of funds for the flood victims in a few places in the country. In fact, a few days before the incident in Buk1t Ant@rabangsa, there was a similar incident occurred in U1u Y@m. 2 family members dead. Their house was totally demolished. Did everyone forget about that already?
I may not be the right person to write about this. Tell me that I'm so skeptical about things that happened around me. Why is it, when the rich involves in a tragedy, many come and offer their help. But, when the poor suffers from something, very little hands come and help.
When a charity funds is created, surely, many people would donate money and they involve those who want to 'exchange' their tax with 'a donation' through this foundation. This includes those
"PAK PANDIR MENDERMA RM3 JUTA KEPADA YAYASAN BENCANA BLA BLA BLA..."
Pak Pandir's name will appear everywhere. From nobody, he becomes somebody now. Everyone in the country talks about Pak Pandir. Great huh! Later, we will hear Pak Pandir is granted a Dato' title due to his generousity. Sometime afterthat, Pak Pandir would easily acquire 'projects' that need to be approved by the friends, relatives or even those people who actually involved in the disaster ;). . Ha! Ha! Ha! Neat and subtle approach Pak Pandir!
Of course, basic needs like food, clothing and shelter are required temporarily.
No doubt, the needy do get their help. Alhamdulillah. But, do they really in need for long term period? Normally, those people who own houses in 'that' kind of place have lots of $$$. They may have bought a special insurance for any unforeseeable disaster (I said may - means perhaps). The damages (like big and luxury cars, expensive furnitures etc etc) could be recovered in a split second!
Unlike those much poorer people who are the victims of flood for almost every year, they do not have much money to buy a house in a better and safer place. Insurance to cover the loses would be the last thing in their mind. As long as they could feed their kids, it is better than enough. When the disaster occured, they would usually receive RM200 per family or per person? Surely, it won't be more that RM1000! Is that enough? I don't know. You tell me...
To me, if those donaters are sincere enough, they should name the fund as "Funds for any victim fo anykind of disaster". Don't you think so?
I do salute those people who went to give an immediate assistant like preparing food and shelter for the victims. An effort by this sister should be followed by others. She's helping without asking. Only Allah could reward her and the rest of her friends. Insyaallah...
My point is, don't simply donate money so that your name will be recognized but donate money or physical assistance because you are really sincere to help.
I foresee there would be many may diagree with me. Well, this is my blog and I can express my opinion here.. ;).
